Now in its third year, the BYM Autumn Camp brings young musicians together for three days of rehearsals, skill-building and collaboration with experienced tutors and conductors. It’s a fantastic opportunity to grow as a musician, meet new people, and be part of an exciting final concert at the end of the camp.

What is the Bendigo Youth Orchestra?

The idea for the Bendigo Youth Orchestra began as a coffee conversation among teachers and musicians local to the Bendigo area, discussing potential ideas of how the Ulumbarra Foundation could support young people in their musical journey. A very wide range of options were considered, including what was already offered in various programs in Bendigo.
It became apparent that a Youth Orchestra was a gap. The conversation steered in the direction of how something could be developed in this space, and extend that to the wider regions of central and northern Victoria.
After considerable discussion and consideration of a range of different approaches to support young musicians, we ‘landed’ on the concept of a program which utilises intensive rehearsal days, culminating in a final concert.
In 2025, BYM are delighted to announce that not only will the camp program be running again, but also a weekly rehearsal program aligning with the Bendigo Symphony Orchestra rehearsal seasons. Players are always welcome. Email us to find out more.
